Commentary


Loge fondée en 1776. Nous pouvons lire très attentivement dans l’ouvrage de Marc Labouret les informations qui suivent. “Le nom de cette loge se réfère aux neuf muses des arts et des sciences. Cette loge regroupa de nombreux intellectuels, savants et penseurs des Lumières. Voltaire fut initié par cette loge. Benjamin Franklin, ambassadeur en France des colonies anglaises d’Amérique joua un role important pour convaincre la France de combattre pour l’indépendance américaine.” Cette médaille est frappée lors de la célébration du bicentenaire de la fondation de cette loge, preuve de son activité. Cette médaille est inédite au Labouret, ni photographiée, ni répertoriée.

The symbolism is sought after, without comparison with the later eras, which were much more conventional, even bland or destitute at the beginning of the 20th century..
