In 55, Pompey and Crassus were consuls together for the second time. Their first joint consulship dated from 70 BC. That same year the "lex Trebonia and Pompeia Licinia" consecrated the powers of the triumvirate formed in 59 BC by Caesar and the two above-named. Caesar undertakes his first campaign in Brittany.
