Historical background

Florien

(06-08/276) Marcus Annius Florianus

Florien, praetorian prefect of Tacitus, was certainly not his brother or half-brother because he does not have the same gentile he (Claudius / Annius). He could not stay in power as Probus was acclaimed emperor and he was assassinated by his own soldiers in Tarsus. Coinage continued to be struck after his death, perhaps until late September or early October.
