Commentary

Le 25 juin 1658, Dunkerque est espagnole le matin, française à midi et anglaise le soir. En effet, ce jour là, Henri de La Tour d'Auvergne, vicomte de Turenne, prend la ville aux Espagnols durant la bataille des Dunes. Le soir même, Louis XIV remet la ville à Oliver Cromwell, provisoirement son allié.
On June 25, 1658, Dunkirk was Spanish in the morning, French at noon, and English in the evening. Indeed, on that day, Henri de La Tour d'Auvergne, Viscount of Turenne, captured the city from the Spanish during the Battle of the Dunes. That same evening, Louis XIV surrendered the city to Oliver Cromwell, his temporary ally.
