Historical background

WEST - WEST COUNTY - PHILIPPE LE BON

Philip the Good (1396-1469), after having been an ally of the English, signed the Treaty of Arras in 1435. He went into the French orbit but had pieced through skillful political marriages and regrouping, a true empire, heir of Lotharingia. Lighters right and reverse recall the founding of the Order of the Golden Fleece in 1429.
