Commentary

Bien entendu, nous n’avons pas de preuve que ce flan ait été effectivement prévu pour une 1 franc Morlon mais le poids, le métal et le diamètre sont bons, la coïncidence semble peu probable.

Historical background

PROVISIONAL GOVERNEMENT OF THE FRENCH REPUBLIC

(26/08/1944-16/01/1947)

The Provisional Government of the French Republic (GPRF) is the name given to the French Committee for National Liberation (CFLN) led by General de Gaulle since June 1944 and in anticipation of the Allied landings. Recognized by the United States, little by little, the Provisional Government of the French Republic saw its authority extend to the liberated regions. This government was installed in Paris on August 31, 1944 and was reorganized in September to allow the entry of personalities from the internal resistance. This government remained in office until January 16, 1947, the date of the election of Vincent Auriol as President of the Fourth Republic. At its head are General de Gaulle, Félix Gouin, Georges Bidault and Léon Blum..
