A bimetallic coin commemorating the former province of Southern Finland. This province boasts a rich medieval architectural heritage. The \\\"Rusko\\\" tankard is one of the most treasured objects in the National Museum of Finland's collection. The decorated wooden tankard, or kousa, was produced in Southern Finland as early as the Middle Ages. These carved and engraved objects played a vital role in promoting literacy and catechism in Finland. In 2010, the Rahapaja, the Finnish Mint, resumed minting the 5-euro coin. A new series of nine 5-euro coins, spanning several years, was launched in 2010. This series is dedicated to the nine historical provinces of Finland dating back to the time when Finland was part of Sweden: - Satakunta (2010) - Southwestern Finland (2010) - Tavastia (2011) - Savonia (2011) - Uusimaa (2011) - Karelia (2011) - Ostrobothnia (2011) - Lapland (2011) - Åland (2011)
