La huitième 2 Euro commémorative circulante de la Finlande a été frappée à l’occasion du 200ème anniversaire de la première Diète (assemblée) et de la création des institutions du gouvernement central de la Finlande. Du 25 mars au 19 juillet 1809 se tint dans la cathédrale de Porvoo la première Diète de Finlande suite à la guerre de Finlande qui opposa la Suède et la Russie de 1808 à 1809. Suite à la victoire russe, la Finlande acquit le statut de Grand-Duché autonome jusqu’à son indépendance en 1917. L’indépendance a été illustrée en 2007 avec la pièce de 2 Euro “90ème anniversaire de l’indépendance de la Finlande”..
Finland's eighth circulating commemorative 2 Euro coin was minted to mark the 200th anniversary of the first Diet (assembly) and the establishment of Finland's central government institutions. From 25 March to 19 July 1809, the first Diet of Finland was held in Porvoo Cathedral following the Finnish War between Sweden and Russia in 1808 and 1809. Following the Russian victory, Finland became an autonomous Grand Duchy until its independence in 1917.
