Exemplaire sur un petit flan irrégulier, légèrement éclaté. Très beau portrait inhabituel de Faustine mère. Jolie représentation au revers avec un temple fin et élancé. Belle patine grise superficielle avec des reflets dorés

Obverse description : Buste voilé et drapé de Faustine Mère à droite, avec les cheveux relevés, coiffés en chignon (L).

Obverse translation : “Diva Faustina”, (Divine Faustine).

Reverse legend : DEDICATIO - AEDIS.

Reverse description : Temple hexastyle au fronton triangulaire décoré, accosté de deux victoires en acrotères et surmonté d’un quadrige.

Reverse translation : “Ædis Divæ Faustinæ”, (Au monument de la divine Faustine).

Commentary

Représentation très intéressante d’un monument encore visible dans la ville Éternelle. Ce denier fut frappé au moment du début des travaux de l’édification du petit temple de Faustine. Très belle représentation du temple. Ce type semble beaucoup plus rare que ne le laissent supposer les ouvrages généraux. C’est la première fois que nous proposons ce type à la vente.
