Commentary

Portrait with a chignon and very elaborate hair for the young Faustina. This is one of the first issues for the young Faustina. D. Sear dates this type to the years 148-152. On the reverse, the association of Venus and the rudder is rather rare, but is intended to recall the role that Fortune plays in the destiny of the Empire and the desired birth of a numerous offspring for the daughter of the emperor and Marcus Aurelius

Historical background
