Obverse description : Buste voilé et drapé de Faustine Mère à droite, avec les cheveux relevés, coiffés en chignon (L).

Obverse translation : “Diva Faustina”, (Divine Faustine).

Reverse legend : AED DIV FAVSTINAE.

Reverse description : Temple hexastyle au fronton triangulaire décoré, accosté de deux victoires en acrotères et surmonté d’un quadrige ; devant les marches, barrière.

Reverse translation : “Ædis Divæ Faustinæ”, (Au monument de la divine Faustine).

Commentary

Poids léger. Représentation très intéressante d’un monument encore visible dans la ville Éternelle. Ce denier fut frappé au moment de la fin des travaux de l’édification du petit temple de Faustine. Très belle représentation du temple. Ce type semble beaucoup plus rare que ne le laissent supposer les ouvrages généraux.
