Exemplaire sur un flan mine et large, bien centré des deux côtés. Beau portrait de style fin. Joli revers. Patine marron foncé granuleuse

Obverse description : Buste drapé de Fausta à droite, les cheveux retenus par un petit chignon, vu de trois quarts en avant (L*2).

Reverse legend : SALVS REI-PVBLICAE/ -|-// SIRM.
Reverse description : Salus ou Fausta voilée et drapée, debout de face, regardant à gauche, tenant deux enfants dans ses bras.
Reverse translation : “Salus Reipublicæ”, (La Santé du bien public).
Commentary
Poids très léger. C’est la seule représentation de Fausta pour l’atelier de Sirmium. Ce type est en fait beaucoup plus rare que ne le, laissent paraître les ouvrages généraux.

Fausta, daughter of Maximien Hercule, married Constantine in 307 with whom she had five children, three boys, Constantine II, Constance and Constans, and two daughters, Constantina, who married successively Hanniballien and Constance Galle, and Hélène, who married Julien II . Involved in a sordid affair of adultery with her stepson Crispus, she was scalded in her bath on the orders of Constantine in 326.
