Susan Brownell Anthony (1820-1906) était une militante américaine des droits civiques qui lutta pour le suffrage des femmes aux États-Unis.
Le Dollar Susan B. Anthony a été mis en circulation en 1979. Initialement, le flan devait avoir la forme d’un hendécagone mais les fabricants de distributeurs firent pression pour qu’elle soit circulaire. A cause de sa ressemblance avec le quart de dollar, ce type fut très mal accueilli et jamais réellement accepté par la population. On l’a surnommé le “Carter Quarter” ou “Anthony quarter”.
Susan Brownell Anthony (1820-1906) was an American civil rights activist who fought for women's suffrage in the United States. The Susan B. Anthony Dollar was introduced into circulation in 1979. Initially, the blank was to be shaped like a hendecagon, but ATM manufacturers pushed for a circular design. Because of its resemblance to the quarter dollar, this design was very poorly received and never truly accepted by the public. It was nicknamed the “Carter Quarter” or “Anthony Quarter.”
