Historical background

UNITED STATES OF AMERICA

(since 1776)

George Washington (1732-1799) is elected the first president of the United States. He wrote the Constitution of 1787. Presidents John Adams (1797-1801), Jefferson (1801-1809), Madison (1809-1817) and Monroe (1817-1825) allowed the first thirteen states to organize and train in the Union of new members: Vermont in 1791, Kentucky in 1792, Tennessee in 1796, Ohio in 1803 without forgetting Louisiana which Bonaparte sold for 15 million dollars. The second war with England (1812-1814) led to the Treaty of Ghent (1814). Florida enters the Union in 1819. The United States extends towards the South and will face the Mexicans. In 1836, Fort Alamo was destroyed by General de Santa Anna..
