Cette monnaie est frappée sur un flan assez large et régulier, avec un coin de revers légèrement cassé à 12 heures. Le relief est assez faible et ce denier présente une patine marron

On December 16, 1640, the Catalans revolted against their suzerain, Philip IV of Spain (1621-1665), and called on the French to help them. Louis XIII takes the title of Count of Barcelona, the French invade Roussillon in September 1642 and take Perpignan on September 9.
