Très bel exemplaire, centré des deux côtés. Belle tête de Perséphone ainsi qu’un très joli Pégase, de style grec. Petite griffure devant la tête de Pégase. Patine grise

Obverse legend : ANÉPIGRAPHE.
Obverse description : Tête diadémée de Perséphone à droite, les cheveux tirés en arrière, avec boucles d'oreilles ; deux dauphin devant le visage et un autre derrière le cou.
Reverse
Reverse description : Pégase volant à droite, les ailes déployées, légende entre la queue et les pattes arrières.
Reverse legend : [EM]PORITWN
Commentary
Cette drachme, est complètement identifiable, sans différent entre les jambes. Au droit, le dauphin derrière la tête est complet, tandis que ceux devant le visage sont hors flan.

The Greek Emporion, the Roman Ampurias, today San Martin de Ampurias was founded around 580 BC, perhaps by Rhodian colonists like Rosas (Rhodè) or Phocaeans like Marseilles whose foundations are contemporary. It was one of the most important ports in the Western Mediterranean. It is necessary to evoke rather two cities: Palaïapolis and Neapolis which were built.
