Commentary


En 1864, est introduit le second système décimal, l’Escudo de Plata (écu d’argent). L’objectif est de parvenir à une association avec l’Union Monétaire Latine.
Les équivalences sont les suivantes :
- 10 Escudos = 100 Reales
- 100 Céntimos de Escudo = 1 Escudo .
Après la chute de la reine Isabelle II, ce second système sera remplacé en 1868 par celui de la Peseta, sur la base de 2 Escudos de plata = 5 Pesetas..
In 1864, the second decimal system, the Escudo de Plata (silver shield), was introduced. The aim was to achieve an association with the Latin Monetary Union.
