Commentary


Charles III (20/01/1716-14/12/1788) est le fils aîné du second mariage de Philippe V, celui avec Élisabeth Farnèse. Il fut successivement duc de Parme (1731-1735) et roi de Naples (1735-1759) puis il succéda à son demi-frère, Ferdinand VI, comme roi d'Espagne en 1759. Il épousa Marie-Amélie de Saxe en 1738 qui lui donna six enfants. Son fils Charles IV lui succéda en 1788 comme roi d'Espagne et son autre fils Ferdinand IV comme roi de Naples et des Deux Siciles (1759-1825).

He was successively Duke of Parma (1731-1735) and King of Naples (1735-1759) then he succeeded his half-brother, Ferdinand VI, as King of Spain in 1759. He married Marie-Amélie de Saxe in 1738 who gave him six children. His son Charles IV succeeded him in 1788 as King of Spain and his other son Ferdinand IV as King of Naples and the Two Sicilies (1759-1825)
