Obverse translation : "Imperator Cæsar Æmilianus Pius Felix Augustus", (L'empereur césar Émilien pieux et heureux auguste).

Reverse legend : ERCVL VICTORI (SIC !).
Reverse description : Hercule nu debout à droite, la léonté flottant sur son bras, tenant la massue renversée de la main droite, posée sur un rocher et un arc de la main gauche.
Reverse translation : “Herculi Victori”, (À l’Hercule victorieux).

Poids lourd. Le seul exemplaire signalé provient de la collection Vierordt, 5 mars 1923, n° 2303.

AEMILIANUS

Emilian was governor of Moesia in 252, when Trebonian Galle entrusted him with the mission of repelling the Goths who had broken the Danubian limes. Emilien succeeds; he is proclaimed emperor by his troops. He marched on Italy and challenged Trebonian Galle and Volusian at Terni. Recognized by the Senate, he was finally assassinated in Spoleto by his soldiers who joined Valerian I.
