Exemplaire frappé sur un flan un peu court, bien centré. Patine sombre. Un bourrelet périphérique au revers, témoignant d'un accident de frappe (?)

Sur cette drachme, le champ est vide sous le poitrail du cheval. L’élément décoratif est réduit à deux globules isolés.

ELUSATES (Area of the Gers)

(3rd-2nd century BC)

Small people of Aquitaine who occupied part of the current department of Gers, corresponding to the former county of Condomois (Comdom). Their capital was Elusa (Eauze, Gers). The Elusates were subjugated in 56 BC by Publius Licinius Crassus, lieutenant of Caesar, the son of Crassus who campaigned in Aquitaine. Sources: Caesar (BG. III, 27).
