ELINCOURT - WALLERAND III OF LIGNY

(1371-1415)

In 1379, Wallerand was taken prisoner by the English. He married Mahaut de Reus (+ in 1392), daughter of the Count of Kent. His property was immediately seized by the French, but Charles VI returned it to him upon his accession. He remarried in 1400 with Bonne de Bar, eldest daughter of Duke Robert de Bar and Marie de France. He held great positions, such as that of Grand Master of Waters and Forests and Grand Bottler. In 1411 he became constable. He died in April 1415 at the Château d'Yvey.
