Exemplaire de qualité exceptionnelle pour ce type de monnayage avec les grènetis visibles, en particulier au droit. Portrait de toute beauté, de haut relief. Revers finement détaillé de haut relief. Magnifique patine de médaillier avec des reflets mordorés

Commentary


Nous n’avions qu’un seul exemplaire signalé dans le Svoronos (Sv. 1342, pl. XLV, n° 18) qui est celui du British Museum (BMC. 26, pl. XVI, n° 7). Même coin de droit que l’exemplaire du Danish National Museum (Cop. n° 567, pl. XIX). Nous avons un deuxième exemplaire signalé. Cependant, ce type semble plus rare que ne le laissent supposer les ouvrages généraux. Mêmes coins que l’exemplaire de MONNAIES 51, n° 322.

(180-145 BC)

Ptolemy VI was the eldest son of Ptolemy V and Cleopatra I Thea. His mother's regency lasted until 176 BC. He reigned jointly with his brother Ptolemy VIII from 170 to 164 BC. He married his sister Cleopatra II by whom he had two daughters and Ptolemy VII. He died of his wounds while fighting Alexander I Balas.
