Exemplaire sur un flan large bien centré des deux côtés avec les grènetis visibles. Beau portrait particulier au droit avec une balafre sur la joue. Très joli revers où les détails du plumage de l’aigle sont visibles. Patine gris foncé avec des reflets dorés

Commentary

Sur cet exemplaire, le portrait est parfaitement centré et les traits du Pharaon ne ressemblent plus à ceux de Ptolémée Ier.

Ptolemy V, king at 5, died at 29. He was crowned Pharaoh in Memphis in 197 BC. This event was immortalized by the Rosetta stone that Champollion was to transcribe 2,000 years later, delivering the key to the hieroglyphic writing. Ptolemy V married Cleopatra I, daughter of Antiochus III, and left two minor sons: Ptolemy VI and VIII.
