Exemplaire sur un flan large, parfaitement centré des deux côtés. Beau portrait à l’usure superficielle. Revers de haut relief, bien venu à la frappe. Magnifique patine de collection ancienne avec des reflets dorés et bleutés

Commentary


Grafitti au droit derrière la tête de Ptolémée Ier et au revers derrière l’aigle. Semble de même coin de droit que l’exemplaire du trésor de Meydancikkale n ° 3109, pl. 94 (Sv. 259, NP. 23) daté de 290/289 avant J.-C.

Ptolemy was a childhood friend of Alexander. After the death of the latter in 323 BC, he received the satrapy of Egypt. Diadoque, he fought for forty years against his colleagues, Lysimachus, Seleucus, Antigone and Demetrius. Ptolemy was the only successor of Alexander to die in his bed.
