Exemplaire de qualité exceptionnelle sur un flan large et ovale, légèrement bombé, parfaitement centré des deux côtés avec les grènetis visibles. Très beau portrait de haut relief, parfaitement venu à la frappe. Revers de style fin où tous les détails de l’aigle sont visibles. Un petit coup sur la tranche au revers à 4 heures. Jolie patine de collection ancienne. Conserve la plus grande partie de son brillant de frappe et de son coupant d’origine

Commentary

J. Svoronos signalait seulement quatre exemplaires dans son corpus en 1904, celui du Cabinet des médailles d’Athènes (17,95 g), celui Staatische Museen de Berlin (17,80 g) provenant de la collection Osten, celui du British Museum (17,75 g.) et celui de la collection Weber (17,75 g). Petit delta dans les rubans du diadème. Même coin de droit que l’exemplaire du Musée d’Athènes (Svoronos, n° 370a, pl. IX, n° 18).

Svoronos reported only four examples in his corpus in 1904, that of the Cabinet of Medals of Athens (17.95 g), that of the Staatische Museen of Berlin (17.80 g) from the Osten collection, that of the British Museum (17.75 g) and that of the Weber collection (17.75 g). Small delta in the ribbons of the diadem. Same obverse die as the copy of the Museum of Athens (Svoronos, no. 370a, pl. IX, no. 18)
