Historical background


EGYPT - KINGDOM OF EGYPT - FAROUK

(1936-1952)

Farouk (1920-1952), son of Fouad I, succeeded his father in 1936 as King of Egypt and Sudan. On January 20, 1938, he married Safinaz Zulficar (1921-1988) who received the name Farida and with whom he had three daughters. He divorced in 1948 and married in 1951 Narriman Sadek (1934) who gave him a son, Fouad II, born in 1952. He abdicated in 1952 in favor of his son Fouad II who was deposed on June 18, 1953.
