Commentary

En 2014, le gouvernement a annoncé sa décision de construire un nouveau canal permettant de décongestionner la partie centrale du canal en supprimer la circulation alternée. Le chantier porte sur 72 km dont 35 km consistant à élargir et à appronfondir le canal existant et 37 km d’un nouveau canal au niveau de la ville d’Ismaïlia. Après un an de travaux, le nouveau canal est inauguré le 6 août 2015.
In 2014, the government announced its decision to build a new canal to relieve congestion in the central part of the canal by eliminating alternating traffic. The project covers 72 km, including 35 km to widen and deepen the existing canal and 37 km of a new canal near the city of Ismailia. After a year of work, the new canal was inaugurated on August 6, 2015.
