Commentary

En 1971, le président Anouar El Sadate amorce un tournant idéologique et diplomatique, la Révolution dite “correctrice”. Elle met fin aux relations privilégiées avec l’URSS en faveur d’un rapprochement avec les États-Unis et se caractérise par la purge des éléments les plus nassériens du régime.
In 1971, President Anwar Sadat initiated an ideological and diplomatic shift, the so-called “corrective” revolution. It ended the privileged relationship with the USSR in favor of a rapprochement with the United States and was characterized by the purge of the most Nasserist elements of the regime.
