Ces monnaies sont connues depuis le Trésor de Siaugues-Saint-Romain puoblié par Changarnier. Ce monnayage a été récemment réétudié par K. Gruel, lors de la parution des Mélange offerts à S. Scheers.
Ce quart de statère est très rare ; ceux conservés au musée de Lyon et de Zurich sont à peine lisibles. Le type de droit dériverait des statères d’or des Suessions..
These coins are known from the Treasure of Siaugues-Saint-Romain published by Changarnier. This coinage was recently re-studied by K. Gruel, during the publication of Mélange offert à S. Scheers. This quarter stater is very rare; those preserved in the museums of Lyon and Zurich are barely legible. The obverse type is said to derive from the gold staters of the Suessiones.

This so-called Siaugues-Saint-Romain series is more complex than it appears and it is difficult to present an exhaustive study of it due to the advanced state of corrosion of most of the known examples. A concentration of these coins can be observed in lower Allier, around Vichy (...). The geographical distribution of the coins makes them a local coinage. It could correspond to a coinage of pagus, whose territory would extend into the protruding space described by the Arverne city in the Allier valley, north of a Mariol-Bègues line. K. Gruel and D.
