Potin homogène et d’assez belle fabrique, pour ce type souvent défectueux et habituellement très mou. Cet exemplaire est sur un flan un peu court avec un penon de coulée bien net

Commentary


Ce potin se trouve plutôt chez les Durocasses, notamment avec des bronzes SNIA. Ce potin a d’ailleurs été publié par B. Fischer dans les fouilles de fort Harrouard qui aurait été identifié comme l’atelier de fabrication.
D’un type déjà très rare, cet exemplaire est d’une qualité extraordinaire, sans doute l’un des plus beaux connus !.

The Durocasses are not cited by Caesar in the Gallic Wars. They seem to have emancipated themselves from Carnut tutelage quite late, like the Parisii from that of the Senones. Their name means "the warriors of the fortified hill"..
