Potin parfaitement identifiable, un peu mou au revers, avec une patine sombre et brillante mais hétérogène avec des zones de concrétions rougeâtres

Commentary
Cet exemplaire est très particulier, une tête comparable à celles qui orne certains potins dégénérés dits “aux croissants”, attribués à la Loire Moyenne. Ce revers est habituellement associé à une grosse tête ovale et très simplifiée !
L’attribution de ce potin, toujours mal venu à la coulée varie entre les Carnutes et les Durocasses, mais il semblerait que les provenances soient plutôt concentrées autour de Dreux.

The Durocasses are not cited by Caesar in the Gallic Wars. They seem to have emancipated themselves from Carnut tutelage quite late, like the Parisii from that of the Senones. Their name means "the warriors of the fortified hill". Certain coins, reputed to be carnutes, could probably be attributed to them!.
