Monnaie idéalement centrée. Très beau portrait de Domitien, bien venu à la frappe. Revers de style fin. Patine grise

Obverse translation : "Imperator Cæsar Domitianus Augustus Germanicus Pontifex Maximus Tribunicia Potestate sextum", (L'empereur césar Domitien auguste germanique, grand pontife, revêtu de la sixième puissance tribunitienne).

Reverse description : Minerve ou Pallas casquée, vêtue du chiton avec l’égide flottant au vent debout à droite, brandissant une javeline de la main droite et un bouclier de la main gauche.

Les émissions d’argent de l’année 87, précédent les Jeux séculaires semblent particulièrement rares et peu nombreuses.

Augustus
Domitian, born in 51, became august in 81, succeeding his brother. In 86, the Capitoline games were organized for the first time. The Flavian Palace is erected on the Palatine. In 88, the secular games were celebrated with pomp. A first campaign is launched on Dacia which ends with a peace of compromise, leaving Decebalus master of the situation. Domitian has just won a brilliant campaign against the Sarmatians and the Suevi (IMP XXII). Agricola died in disgrace on August 23, 93. In 95, Domitian had Flavius Clemens, his cousin, executed. The following year, Domitian will be assassinated at the instigation of his wife and the prefect of the Praetorium.
