Historical background

DOBUNNI (Aera of Cirencester)

(1st century BC)

The territory of the Dobunni was located between the Bristol Channel and the Severn on the present counties of Somerset, Gloucestershire, Avon of Worcestershire. Archeology reveals important traces of fortifications including that of Minchinhampton which extends over 240 hectares.
