Exemplaire sur un flan parfaitement centré avec les grènetis complets. Beau portrait juvénile de Diaduménien. Frappe molle au revers. Belle patine de collection ancienne avec des reflets dorés

Obverse description : Buste drapé, tête nue de Diaduménien à droite vu de trois quarts en arrière (A°21).
Obverse translation : “Marcus Opellius Diadumenianus Cæsar”, (Marc Opellius Diaduménien césar).

Reverse


Reverse legend : PRINC. IVVENTVTIS.
Reverse description : Diaduménien debout à gauche, vêtu militairement, tenant un bâton de la main droite et un sceptre court de la gauche ; derrière, deux enseignes militaires.
Reverse translation : “Princeps Iuventutis”, (Prince de la jeunesse).

Commentary


Le buste est seulement drapé, pas de ptéryges sous le paludamentum. Ce type semble beaucoup plus rare que ne le laissent supposer les ouvrages généraux.

Caesar (04/217-05/218)

Diaduménien becomes Caesar when his father Macrinus was declared in April august 217. He received the title of prince of youth. Macrinus does enter the Severan family by making him take the praenomen Antonin like himself grabbed one of Severus. After the proclamation of Heliogabalus, Macrinus raises her son in May Augustat 218 for a very short period. Fought in June, and Diaduménien Macrinus fled. It is caught in wanting to spend the Parthians crossing the Euphrates and killed.
