Exemplaire sur un petit flan épais, centré, mais court sur les légendes à l’usure régulière. Patine gris métallique

Obverse description : Buste radié et drapé de Diaduménien à droite, vu de trois quarts en avant (A01). On note l’épaule lisse et ronde, il n’y a donc pas de cuirasse. Ce coin, exception rarissime, ne présente pas de rubans de la couronne radiée.
Obverse legend : MAR . OPEL..AN-TwNINOS. K ( Markos Opel Antwneinos Kaisar).
Obverse translation : (Marc Opel Antonin César).
Reverse
Reverse description : Aigle debout à droite, les ailes déployées, la tête et la queue tournées à gauche, forme de couronne dans le bec ; entre les pattes de l’aigle, croissant de lune ou paire de cornes pointes en haut.
Reverse legend : DHMARC. EX. UPATOS. (Dhmarcikhs Exousias Upato).
Reverse translation : (Puissance tribunitienne, consul).
Commentary
Dans la base TSP maintenue par Michel Prieur, six exemplaires sont maintenant répertoriés, un seul en musée, Paris, ex collection Seyrig.

Caesar
Diadumenian becomes Caesar when his father Macrin is proclaimed august in April 217. He receives the title of prince of youth. Macrinus brings him into the Severian family by making him take the prænomen of Antoninus, as he himself seized that of Severus. After the proclamation of Elagabalus, Macrinus raised his son to august in May 218 for a very short period. Beaten in June, Macrin and Diaduménien fled. The latter is caught while trying to pass to the Parthians by crossing the Euphrates. He is killed.
