Obverse description : Canon accosté de 15 JUIN - 1849. Un bandeau gravé du mot REPRESSION sépare le canon de ses éclairs. A l’exergue : FRATERNITE.

Reverse

Reverse legend : LYON EST MIS EN ÉTAT DE SIÈGE, (LÉGENDE CIRCULAIRE SUPÉRIEURE); 3000 ARRESTATIONS PRÉVENTIVES, (LÉGENDE CIRCULAIRE INFÉRIEURE.

Reverse description : Oeil rayonnant accosté de baïonnettes, couronnées d’une couronne de laurier. Un bandeau gravé du mot COMPRESSION coupe les rayons. A l’exergue : LIBERTÉ.

Commentary

Cette médaille fait suite à la quatrième insurrection des Voraces lors du soulèvement de juin 1849, en écho au soulèvement des républicains parisiens (13 juin 1849). Ils ne seront pas soutenus par la population et durement réprimés à la Croix-Rousse par l'armée.
