DAUPHINÉ - LOUIS X, DAUPHIN (future LOUIS XVI)

(1754-1792)

Louis, eldest son of the Dauphin (1729-1765) and Marie-Josèphe de Saxe (1731-1767), was born on August 23, 1754. Duc de Berry at birth, he became Dauphin after his father's death on December 20 1765. He married Marie-Antoinette of Austria on May 16, 1770 and succeeded his grandfather on May 10, 1774 under the name of Louis XVI.
