Ce baudequin est frappé sur un flan assez large et voilé. Coup sur la croupe du cheval. Exemplaire recouvert d’une jolie patine grise de médaillier, plus marquée au revers qu’au droit

Obverse description : Jean en armure sur un cheval caparaçonné et drapé. Gui tient un bouclier aux armes du Dauphiné de la main gauche, un étendard de la main droite coupant la légende à 11 heures.

Reverse legend : + COMES: ALBONIS ; LÉGENDE EXTÉRIEURE : + SIT: NOMEN: DOMINI: BENEDICTV.

Commentary

Cette monnaie est copiée sur les baudequins principalement frappés dans le nord de la France. Les légendes du droit et du revers de ce baudequin rappellent qu'à l'origine le Dauphiné était limité au comté de Viennois et qu'il fut inféodé à partir de 1029/30 à Guigues Ier, comte d'Albon. Monnaie très rare (40 f. dans l'ouvrage de Boudeau).
This coin is copied from the baudequins mainly minted in the north of France. The legends on the obverse and reverse of this baudequin recall that originally the Dauphiné was limited to the county of Viennois and that it was enfeoffed from 1029/30 to Guigues I, Count of Albon. Very rare coin (40 francs in Boudeau's work)
