Commentary


Entre 1981 et 1989, l'Institut national du Tourisme (Instituto Nacional de Turismo, "INTUR") a frappé des “Monnaies de Visiteurs" pour utilisation par les touristes étrangers. En 1981, les monnaies en cupro-nickel de 5, 10, 25 et 50 centavos ont été introduites, suivies en 1988 par les monnaies de 1, 5, 10, 25 et 50 centavos en aluminium. Ces pièces de monnaie d'INTUR ont été démonétisées le 15 octobre 2001 et ont été remplacées par des pesos convertibles fractionnaires de 1, 5, 10, 25, 50 centavos et 1 peso, frappées au Canada. À la fin de 2004, une cinq pièce de monnaie de 1 peso convertible, datée 1999, a été mise dans la circulation.

These INTUR coins were demonetized on October 15, 2001, and were replaced by fractional convertible pesos of 1, 5, 10, 25, 50 centavos, and 1 peso, minted in Canada. In late 2004, a five-peso convertible coin, dated 1999, was put into circulation.
