Exemplaire sur un flan ovale, bien centré des deux côtés. Beau portrait de Crispus. Frappe un peu molle au revers. Patine gris foncé

Obverse description : Buste lauré, drapé et cuirassé de Crispus César à droite, vu de trois quarts en avant (A*).
Obverse translation : “Flavius Iulius Crispus Nobilissimus Cæsar”, (Flavien Jules Crispus très noble césar).

Reverse legend : CLARITAS REIPVBLICAE/ T|F// BTR.
Reverse description : Sol (le Soleil) radié debout de face, regardant à gauche, à demi nu, le manteau sur l’épaule, levant la main droite et tenant un globe de la gauche.
Reverse translation : “Claritas Reipublicæ”, (L’éclat du bien public).

Commentary


Poids léger. Rubans de type 3 aux extrémités bouletées. Ptéryges fines. Au revers, les lettres F et T sont peut-être les initiales pour Felicitas Temporum.

Crispus, the son of Constantine and Minervine. Born about 300, he was appointed Caesar in 317 with Constantine and Licinius II II. He was accused by his stepmother wanting to abuse her, rightly or wrongly. Constantine, before the accusations made to his eldest son to death in early 326.
