Exemplaire sur un flan ovale, très bien centré des deux côtés. Flan légèrement éclaté à 9h. Beau portrait de Crispus à droite. Détails fin sur les captifs au revers. Patine vert foncé

Obverse description : Buste casqué et cuirassé de Crispus à droite, avec pan de paludamentum, vu de trois quarts en avant (C*6).

Obverse translation : “Domino Nostri Crispo Nobilissimo Cæsari”, (À notre seigneur Crispus très noble césar).

Reverse legend : VIRTVS - EXERCIT/ VOT/ XX/ A|S// PLG.

Reverse description : Vexillum (étendard) sur lequel est inscrit VOT/XX ; deux captifs sont assis dos à dos de part et d’autre.

Reverse translation : “Virtus Exercitus/ Votis vicennalibus”, (La Virilité de l’armée/ Vœux pour le vingtième année de règne).

Commentary

Poids léger. Casque à cimier, sans décoration, visière cloutée,cuirasse et épaulière cloutées. Ptéryges larges. Au revers, les lettres dans le champ A|S pourraient être les initiales de “Augusti Securitas” pour la Sécurité de l’auguste ? Nous n’avons pas relevé d’identité de coin pertinente. Relativement rare avec ce type de buste.
Lightweight. Crested helmet, undecorated, studded visor, studded cuirass and shoulder guard. Wide pteryges. On the reverse, the letters in the A|S field could be the initials of “Augusti Securitas” for the Security of the Augustus? We have not noted any relevant die identity.
