Commentary
Feuardent classifies this token as belonging to the Church of Saint-Jacques, but the type and legend are also those of the goldsmiths. The community of goldsmiths was, in the 18th century, among the merchants of the six corps, the only one composed of manufacturers. It is surprising that the reverse is ostentatiously signed by the engraver, and we can assume that the aim was to indicate that the Saint Jacques on the obverse had also been made.
