Statère frappé sur un flan particulièrement large avec des types complets mais altérés pas une patine poreuse le rendant peu photogénique. Un léger coup de buron est à signaler au revers

Obverse description : Tête humaine à droite, chevelure en trois rouleaux, les cheveux divisés en grosses mèches en forme d’S, le nez en crosse, l’œil ovale, cordons perlés devant le visage.
Reverse
Reverse legend : ANÉPIGRAPHE.
Reverse description : Cheval androcéphale bridé, galopant à droite ; au-dessus, restes de la tête de l'aurige et hampe pointée ; entre les jambes, une lyre penchée.
Commentary
Cet exemplaire a le nez caractéristique de la classe V, avec en plus une petite esse devant le nez, comme sur la monnaie DT. 2332 provenant elle-même du trésor de Trébry. Ce détail se retrouve sur la monnaie LT. 6703. Cette variante est associée à un revers avec le rinceau devant le poitrail du cheval.
D’une façon générale, la gravure des statères de la classe Va est souvent plus soignée que pour les monnaies de la classe Vb.
This specimen has the characteristic nose of class V, with the addition of a small esse in front of the nose, as on the coin DT. 2332 itself from the Trébry treasure. This detail is also found on the coin LT. 6703. This variant is associated with a reverse with the scroll in front of the horse's chest. Generally speaking, the engraving of class Va staters is often more careful than for class Vb coins

Historical background
CORIOSOLITÆ (Area of Corseul, Cotes d'Armor)
(2nd - 1st century BC)
The Coriosolites were an Armorican people, settled in the current department of Côtes-d'Armor. They had for neighbors the Osismes, the Vénètes, the Namnètes and the Redons. They were a seafaring people whose main port seems to have been Alet. Their name is still preserved today in that of Corseul. They played an important role in trade with insular Britain, took part in the campaign of 57 BC and were subjugated by Crassus. The following year, they again participated in the revolt of the Armoricans under the leadership of the Veneti with the Unelles and the Lexoviens, all crushed by Caesar. In 52 BC, the Coriosolites participated in the contingent of twenty thousand men that the Armoricans sent to free Vercingetorix, besieged in Alesia. Caesar (BG. II, 34; III, 7, 11; VII, 75).
