Commentary

On the reverse of our example, we seem to clearly distinguish a fruit interpreted as an apple or a pomegranate by various authors, including R. Calciati. O. Hoover describes the symbol as a shield resembling the Boeotian shield. As for Raavel, he interpreted the symbol as a rattlesnake, so it would be necessary to find the doorbell to open it!

Historical background

CORINTHIA - CORINTH

(350-306 BC)

Corinth was the unwitting victim of Macedonian hegemony over Asia from Alexander the Great because it then lost its strategic role. Ptolemy I occupied it from 308 to 306 BC, which marks the date of the end of the manufacture of "colts". It joined the Achaean league after 268 BC, but the city was razed by Lucius Memmius in 146 BC for opposing Rome.
