Obverse description : Coq triomphant, une patte agrippant une pique coiffée d’un bonnet phrygien et l’autre sur une tour renversée symbolisant la Bastille .

Reverse legend : LEGISLATEURS / CE METAL PROVIEN.T / DES CHAINES DE NOTRE / SERVITUTDE QUE VOTRE / SERMENT DU 20 JUIN 1789 / A FAIT BRISER LE 14 / JUILLET SUIVANT / PAR PALLOY / PATRIOTE.

Reverse description : Légende en 9 lignes avec une fleur de lys de chaque côté de PAR PALLOY et une rosette à 12 heures et à 6 heures.

Tirages en fer cerclés de cuivre.
Diamètre sans bélière : 37,5 mm
La combinaison de l’avers et du revers n’est pas référencé, que ce soit dans l’ouvrage de Michaud ou dans celui de Hennin.
Par sa légende (au revers) la médaille se rapporte à l’année 1789 mais elle ne fut réalisée qu’en 1792 et distribuée la même année aux anciens membres de l’Assemblée Constituante (cf. M11)
Comme la légende l’indique, elle est frappée avec du fer provenant de la Bastille. Le 20 juin est considéré ici comme ayant entraîné la prise de la Bastille.
Iron strikes with copper rims. Diameter without bail: 37.5 mm. The obverse and reverse combination is not referenced in either Michaud's or Hennin's work. The inscription on the reverse refers to the year 1789, but the medal was only produced in 1792 and distributed that same year to former members of the Constituent Assembly (see M11). As the inscription indicates, it was struck with iron from the Bastille. June 20th is considered here to be the date of the storming of the Bastille.
