Exemplaire sur un flan large et ovale, parfaitement centré des deux côtés avec les grènetis visibles. Beau portrait. Petite faiblesse de frappe au revers sur l’autel. Patine gris métallique avec des reflets dorés

Commentary


Poids très léger. Avec son argenture superficielle. Rubans de type 3 aux extrémités bouletées. Cuirasse lisse avec un motif central formé d’une rosace bouleté. Épaulière palmée. Ptéryges larges. Au revers, les lettres C|R dans le champ pourraient être les initiales de “Claritas Reipublicæ” pour l’éclat de la République. Le globe est orné d’une étoile.
Very light weight. With its surface silver plating. Type 3 ribbons with rounded ends. Smooth cuirass with a central motif formed by a rounded rosette. Webbed shoulder guard. Wide pteryges. Augustus

Constantine was born in 274, son of Constance Chlore and Helena. He was named Caesar on the death of his father on July 25, 306 and was proclaimed august on December 25, 307. He married Fausta, the daughter of Maximien Hercule, who gave him five children, three of whom were augusts. The first twenty years of his reign are devoted to imposing himself as the main august against Maximian Hercules, Galerius, Maxentius, Maximin II and Licinius. He is recognized as the first Christian emperor, although baptized only on his deathbed on May 22, 337.
