Obverse description : Le Christ avec le nimbe crucigère trônant de face, vêtu du pallium et du colombium, bénissant de la main droite et tenant les Évangiles de la main gauche ; double grènetis.
Obverse translation : (Jésus Christ roi des Rois).

Reverse legend : +KWN RAC L - O DOUKAC.
Reverse description : Constantin debout de face sur un piédestal, couronné, vêtu du saccos et du loros, tenant de la main droite le labarum orné d'un globe et de la main gauche, le globe crucigère ; double grènetis.
Reverse translation : (Constantin Doukas).

Commentary


Scyphate. Le labarum est globulé aux extrémités et est orné de cinq globules posés en carré centré. Le globe crucigère est orné d’une croix aux extrémités globulées ; quatre globules autour du cou du basileus et pendilia aux extrémités globulées aussi. Quatre globules sur le pan du colombium.

Constantine X succeeded Isaac I Komnenos had been filed. Constantine's wife, Eudocia, is the niece of the Patriarch of Constantinople. Constantine faces a triple threat: the Normans in Sicily, Uzes (Turkish tribe) in the Balkans and the Seljuks in Asia Minor. At his death, it was his wife who succeeded him, ensuring the regency for her son Michael VII and Constantine. The Empire is facing a serious crisis.
