Exemplaire sur un petit flan épais bien centré au droit avec le grènetis visible, légèrement décentré au revers. Beaux portraits, de style fin, pour le Christ en particulier. Un petit coup sur la tranche

Reverse description : Buste couronné avec pendilia de Constantin IX de face, vêtu d’une chlamyde décorée et gemmée, tenant une longue croix lotiforme de la main droite et le globe crucigère de la gauche.

Ce type semble en fait beaucoup plus rare que ne le laissent supposer les ouvrages généraux.

CONSTANTINE IX MONOMACHOS

Constantine IX succeeded Michael V and brought Basil II's daughters Zoe and Theodora back to court. He married the second. Constantinople experienced an artistic renaissance under his reign to the detriment of the Treasury. It was in 1054 that the Great Schism occurred between the Church of Constantinople and that of Rome, at the origin of the birth of the Orthodox who no longer recognize the supremacy of the bishop of Rome. Constantine died in 1055. It was Theodora who succeeded him for only 7 months, the last descendant of the Macedonian dynasty.
