Historical background

(407 - 411 was) Flavius Constantinus

Constantine III came to power in England in 407 and went to Gaul to try to stem the tide of barbarian invasions. Trier was removed on December 31 406 and in 408, he conquered Spain. At the beginning of his reign, with four G in reverse of the coins, it recognizes four august: Arcadius, Honorius and Theodosius II himself. The 408-411 years are among the darkest in the history of Gaul and the West. In 411 we have seven august: Honorius and Theodosius II, III and Constans Constantine, Maxime, Attalus and Jovin. Constantine III, after being betrayed by Gerontius, the Spanish general, is besieged by Constance, taken prisoner, sent to Honorius and executed.
