Reverse description : Trophée entre deux captifs assis à terre ; celui de gauche est dans l’attitude de la tristesse et celui de droite a les mains liées dans le dos et se retourne.
Reverse translation : "Virtus Exercitus", (La Virilité de l'armée).

Commentary


Rubans de type 3. Cuirasse lignée. Épaulières cloutées. Ptéryges fines visibles des deux côtés. Ce type est en fait beaucoup plus rare que ne le laissent supposer les ouvrages généraux.

Caesar

Born in February 317 according to the most recent chronology, Constantine the Younger receives on coins the title of Caesar like his half-brother Crispus and his cousin Licinius, as well as the title of Prince of Youth. Constantine II is the eldest son of Constantine I and Fausta. In September 337, he received the "pars occidentalis" from the Empire with subjection to his brother Constans, Constantius II having the "pars orientalis". Very quickly, Constantin and Constans fall out. The eldest is eliminated in April 340.
